Mr. Shipman is responsible for sourcing and reviewing prospective investment opportunities, as well as participating in the management of the firm. He focuses on investments in the wireless communications and internet infrastructure sectors. Mr. Shipman oversees Catalyst’s investment in Chancellor University and currently serves on the boards of Barrett Xplore, InSite Wireless and Codero. Mr. Shipman previously managed Catalyst’s investment in Aloha Partners and served on the boards of Nine Systems, Security Broadband, TCP Communications and Oneida Communications.
Prior to joining Catalyst, Mr. Shipman was a Vice President and Director at TD Capital from 1995 until 2000 where he was responsible for the sourcing, negotiation and structuring of direct private equity investments. From 1991 to 1994, he was a relationship manager in Toronto Dominion Bank’s Media, Telecom & Technology Group. Prior to joining TD, Mr. Shipman was an economist at Bankers Trust Company.
Mr. Shipman received an MA and a BA from Boston University, and an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA.
